Notts started on the front foot with Elliott Hewitt getting some joy down the right-hand side. His low shot flew across the area and was just missed by Izale McLeod, who was trying to divert the ball past Artur Krysiak.

The striker had another chance within a minute, twisting and turning inside the area before scuffing well wide of the target.

Aborah showed his class by dancing beyond a couple of Yeovil challenges in midfield and setting up Stead, who saw his shot on the turn blocked by Steven Arthurworrey.

The visitors reminded Notts that they were a threat as Josh Sheehan curled a 25-yard free-kick narrowly wide before Matthew Dolan latched on to a header from Mike Edward to lash a piledriver past the post.

Notts came closest to opening the scoring through McLeod, who hit the post. Again, Aborah was involved, showing great strength to hold off visiting players and slipping the ball to Adam Campbell, who clipped the ball into the path of McLeod.

The striker controlled with his chest and deftly knocked the ball past Krysiak, only for it to bobble agonisingly slowly towards goal before coming back off the upright.

Campbell then had two opportunities of his own, slashing wide with the outside of his left foot and hitting the outside of the post with a cross from a narrow angle.

Hewitt continued to have time and space to exploit from the right-back position, his cross to Aborah was spooned well wide by the midfielder.

The clearance fell as far as Liam Noble, who saw his swerving effort from 30 yards punched away nervously by the goalkeeper as the sides went into half-time at a stalemate.

Audel dragged a shot wide from the edge of the area at the start of the second half with the Magpies still pressing to find the breakthrough and the first goal of the afternoon.

The goal Notts deserved finally arrived when Aborah drew a foul from a defender 20 yards from goal and took responsibility for the set-piece. His left-footed curler deflected off the wall and past the helpless Krysiak for the midfielder's first goal in County colours.

Not content with a one-goal lead, the Magpies duly doubled it on the hour mark. Alan Smith set McLeod racing through on goal and the striker, after springing the offside trap, scored his fifth goal of the campaign with a powerful finish that Krysiak couldn't keep out.

Notts were well in control and started to express themselves. A flowing move involving Aborah, Smith, Campbell and Stead ended with McLeod having a shot blocked by Arthurworrey whilst Smith's rasping drive was headed wide by Yeovil's central defender Jakub Sokolik.

Campbell was given an opportunity to run at the defence and had acres of space to exploit, but his touch around the defender was too heavy, allowing Krysiak to race off his line and smother the attacker's effort.
