Help FITC secure £50,000 funding

30 March 2017

Notts County Football In The Community (FITC)'s Primary Goals 2 project, that aims to support childhood development and life skills, has been shortlisted for £50,000 of Big Lottery funding.

A public vote orchestrated by ITV’s 'The People’s Projects' in March will determine its success against rival projects from Leicestershire and Derbyshire.

FITC has designed and piloted the project called 'Primary Goals' which has proven to be a huge success.

Children who take part in Primary Goals 2, a development of the initial project which has impacted positively on over 130 children from five schools in deprived wards of Nottingham, will benefit from a structured, comprehensive 10-week multi-sports and discussions programme.

This includes bespoke activities designed to develop confidence, self-esteem, behaviour, teamwork and relationships.

If successful, the charity will have an even deeper impact as it means FITC can work even more closely with identified children.

As well as being delivered in additional schools to ensure a wider impact, FITC will have a more significant, longer-term impact on children by increasing concentration, extending engagement, improving behaviour, raising achievement and decreasing isolation.

Primary Goals 2 will support children to develop skills and enable them to lead more fulfilling lives.  Session plans help children learn positive lessons about themselves, improve outcomes at school and in all parts of their life.

Tim Hatton, Senior Manager at FITC believes the project is of great importance to the future of Nottingham’s children.

He said: "This project will not be a success without the community’s help. We’ve worked in partnership with local schools to develop the scheme of work, targeting areas of behaviour and social development that teachers believe is needed to ensure each child is successful in school and beyond.

"We want people to go online and vote for us on from Monday 20 March. This is a great way for the public to secure £50,000 which will be invested in children from Nottingham."

Voting closes on Monday 3 April at midday and you can play your part by clicking here and registering your details.
