Cup Match Postponed

11 December 2012

Tuesday night's FA Cup match with Rotherham United has been postponed...

Notts County regret to announce that Tuesday night’s FA Cup with Budweiser Second Round replay against Rotherham United has had to be postponed following a pitch inspection.

In light of the recent drop in temperature, the groundstaff had put the frost covers on the pitch on Monday evening in a bid to beat the chill that has set in across the country.

However, having removed the covers late on Tuesday morning, to allow themselves time to prepare the pitch for the game, the freezing temperatures continued throughout the day and referee Darren Deadman was forced to conduct an inspection of the playing surface upon his arrival at Meadow Lane around 4:30pm. At the time, the referee was understood to be happy for the game to start.

However, following discussions with managers of both teams and a further inspection of the pitch at around 6:20pm, the referee confirmed that the game could not go ahead due to the health and safety of the players.

Tickets that had been purchased in advance for the game will still be valid for the rearranged fixture, provisionally arranged for Tuesday 18 December, subject to confirmation, whilst anyone unable to make the new date will be able to gain a full refund.

Notts County sincerely regret any inconvenience caused by this decision but would like to assure fans that all possible measures had been taken to get the game on.
