Notts County Part Company with Management Team

29 December 2015

Notts County can confirm that the club have parted company with Manager Ricardo Moniz and his backroom team of Dave Kevan and Dean Yates.

Moniz joined Notts towards the end of the 2014.15 season but was unable to prevent the club dropping down to Sky Bet League 2 and, after a difficult start to the new campaign, the club currently find themselves sitting in 15th place in the table.

Notts Chairman Ray Trew admitted that it was a difficult decision to part company with a coaching team that he had hoped would bring success back to the club, confirming that it was the lack of consistency that ultimately forced his hand.

"I made it clear when appointing Ricardo that I wanted someone who would bring an exciting, attacking brand of football to Meadow Lane and I think it would be fair to say that in part he has done this, with some eye-catching attacking play on show at times this season,” Mr Trew explained.

"However, whilst showing considerable flair at times, particularly here at home, I feel that we have lacked a level of discipline and organisation in our defensive play throughout the season which has undermined our efforts and our right to play this free-flowing attacking style.

“I think perhaps Monday’s game against Morecambe epitomised this, as we found ourselves chasing a game that we should have been taking control of early on and it was only really when we came out for the second half that we saw the kind of impetus that we expect from the players,” he continued.

“By this stage of the season I felt that we needed to be seeing more consistent performances, which would naturally translate into better results and we know all too well how much of a sand trap this division can be – the longer we linger and struggle, the more difficult it will be to get out.

"My goal for this club is, and always has been, to improve and whilst I by no means want to keep chopping and changing managers, I refuse to let us stagnate and I feel that the time is right for a new approach to reignite our season and get us back on track to where we want and need to be."

The Chairman and everyone at Notts County would like to thank Ricardo, Dave and Dean for their tireless effort and determination during their time at Meadow Lane and it is with regret that we part company with a charismatic team who very much had the club at their hearts.

Notts will now begin the search for a new Manager and a further announcement on this front will be made in due course.  In the interim period the Club has placed Mick Halsall, Academy Manager & Richard Dryden, Under 21's Coach in charge of the first team, supported by Kevin Pilkington (GK coach) & Mike Edwards (player & fitness coach).
