Manager reacts to Saturday's cup defeat...

There is no reason to panic following the Capital One Cup defeat to Bradford City, says Keith Curle.

The Notts boss remained relaxed after seeing his side knocked out of the tournament by James Hanson’s finish five minutes into extra time.

County had a host of opportunities to win the match in both halves of regulation time but failure to find the net saw them punished by the Bantams.

“I think I can accept a great finish from the lad, but I think if you analyze the game we had enough chances to put the game to bed,” Curle told Magpie Player.

“We didn’t take the chances as and when they were there, I think we played too open and got caught on the break.

“If you look at their goal, we’ve got players in advance of the ball and get caught out in possession and didn’t really react quickly enough to get there, and it’s a great finish from the lad.

“That’s the beauty of the cup but throughout the season we will get our run of the play.

“We’ll have games where we don’t play well and win games one, two, three or four nil.”

He added: “I’m well aware of the fact that we’ve brought in a lot of new players and it’s going to take time to gel.

“We haven’t exactly hit the ground running but it is a cup competition, the league starts next week and it only takes a second to score a goal and that can change the dynamics of any game.”

Defender Manny Smith has been released from hospital following a knee injury in Saturday's match.

Full details of the injury are expected to be revealed by an MRI scan next week.
