Bio:
John joined on a permanent contract from Oldham Athletic in January 2009 on the back of an impressive loan spell.
'Thommo', as his teammates and fans alike know him, arrived with plenty of games under his belt, including 129 at Nottingham Forest and three caps for the Republic of Ireland.
A versatile member of the squad, he has performed consistently at centre-back, right-back, as well as in the centre of midfield.
His whole-hearted performances led to him being handed the captain's armband, a role that he continued to carry out throughout the 2009/10 League 2 championship season.
He will remain as the squad's skipper into 2010/11.
